Tryout Information for the Upcoming 2023-2024 Season

Tryout Registration for the 2023-2024 Season is OPEN!

Over the course of a whole season, athletes recieve unlimited instruction and experience with match and tournament play. Playing on a club team is an incredible value considering the number of crucial hours in the gym and the experience gained in a single season. There is no substitute for the experience and FUN during a season of club volleyball with VolleyMax! 


TRYOUT REGISTRATION 
The registration fee for all tryouts is $55. This cost must be paid in advance for *Early Bird Pricing.* The tryout cost includes an VolleyMax T-shirt.  Register Now!

After signing in as a registered user, or creating an account if you are a new user, you can add your dependent athlete to your profile and then register them for tryouts. Parents sign-in here.

USA Volleyball requires that each athlete register within their region - our region's governing body is the Southern Region Volleyball Association, or SRVA.  After tryouts you must register on the SRVA website and pay a registration fee that will be a full-year USAV membership once your athlete is placed on a team.  Registration on the SRVA/USAV website will not open until at least Sept 1st at the earliest.  The region asks that parents and families be patient with this process. 18-ELIGIBLE TO 15-ELIGIBLE TEAMS:
VolleyMax will hold a single tryout for each age group.  It is our intent to field 3-5 teams per age group. The tryout date will be on Saturday, July 8th.  It is required that each athlete have a parent attend the entire tryout.

Regional Team tryouts will then occur Sunday, July 16th for these age groups.

14-ELIGIBLE AND 13-ELIGIBLE TEAMS:
VolleyMax will hold a single tryout for each age group.  It is our intent to field 6 teams per age group.  The tryout date will be on Friday, July 7th. It is required that each athlete have a parent attend the entire tryout.

Regional Team tryouts will then occur Sunday, July 16th for these age groups.

12-ELIGIBLE, 11-ELIGIBLE, 10-ELIGIBLE, AND YOUNGER TEAMS:
Tryouts are on July 9th and teams will be formed immediately after the tryouts conclusion. It is required that each athlete have a parent attend the entire tryout.

There will be a second day of tryouts on Wednesday, July 12 to form additional teams or fill in any gaps. Those players registered for the initial tryout and do not make a team will be automatically placed into the second tryout and will not be charged an additional fee.  

Regional Team tryouts will then occur the following Sunday, July 16 for this age group.

BOYS TRYOUTS:
Tryouts for Boys teams will be in the Fall, please be on the look out for additional information.


PLEASE NOTE
We ask that when you come to the gym, you have a plan in mind having done your research, and know in advance if VolleyMax is the club for you. Our goal is to leave the gym with our teams in place - teams comprised of athletes committed to excellence who want to be with VolleyMax, and families who are excited to be a part of the best coaching and top to bottom training regimen in the country.

Please bring your completed USAV Medical Form and SRVA Membership Form. No Refunds inside 96 hours. Walk-ups are welcomed.    

WHAT TO BRING
At tryouts, you will need to bring a copy of the USAV Medical Form filled out.  SRVA REGISTRATION will open around the first of September.

"TRAIN FOR TRYOUTS" CLINICS
VolleyMax's "Train For Tryouts" workshops are designed to familiarize young athletes with club tryout drills and procedures. Coaches will conduct a "mock tryout" which will include evaluations throughout the workshop. This is a great way to reduce tryout nerves and increase confidence. VolleyMax CLUB SEASON INFORMATION MEETINGS
What is club volleyball and just what does a season look like?  Aimed primarily at parents new to club volleyball or new to our club, VolleyMax will offer a single informational meeting this year. The meeting is available for viewing on youtube after the date has passed.

Tryout Age Eligibility for the upcoming 2023-2024 season

The formal wording of USAV's age definition can be a little intimidating. To understand USA Volleyball's age definition more simply, just know that to try out and play for a specific age team, your athlete must still be that age at the end of the season, defined as June 30, 2024  (Exceptions are made for 17- and 18-year-old athletes in specific situations related to playing with their grade).  For example, if your athlete's birthday was in December 2009, then she is 13 years old during tryouts, but will turn 14 during the season, and will still be 14 at the end of the season on June 30, 2024.  Therefore she will try out as a 14-year-old.  With the club's permission, it's always "legal" to play for an older age team, but not for a younger team.  Please note that our website will always display your athlete's correct age eligibility next to the athlete's name in your parent profile.   For more information, including specific exceptions for boys and college-bound athletes, see the "2023-2024 USAV Age Definitions" document listed in the sidebar of this page.
